Chessington is an area in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, forming the largest salient of Greater London into neighbouring Surrey. The town is situated on the A243 Leatherhead Road, close to the A3 trunk route, and is about four miles from junction 9 of the M25 motorway. The popular theme park Chessington World of Adventures is located in the south-west of the area. For learners, this means you’ll practise on a fantastic mix of roads: the busy A243 through the town centre, the roundabouts serving the theme park, and the fast dual carriageways of the A3 and M25 approach. The Bonesgate Stream runs through the area, and the surrounding residential streets off Moor Lane and Bridge Road are perfect for mastering parking manoeuvres and low-speed control. Chessington gives you everything you need to become a well-rounded driver.
Hook is a suburban area that forms part of the Chessington post town, located 12 miles south-west of Charing Cross. It sits on the A243 road and is within walking distance of Chessington North railway station. The standout feature for any driver—and a guaranteed test for your skills—is the Ace of Spades junction. This major intersection enables the A243 Hook Road to cross and link to the A3 Portsmouth Road, while two slip-roads interface with the London end of the A309 Kingston Bypass, which serves Esher and Hampton Court Bridge. Mastering the Ace of Spades means developing excellent lane discipline, quick observations, and confident decision-making. Beyond the junction, Hook’s residential roads provide a calmer environment for practising turn-in-the-road and meeting situations.
Malden Rushett is a small village at the southernmost tip of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, surrounded by woodland and farmland. It sits on the crossroads of the A243 (Kingston to Leatherhead) and the B280 (Oxshott to Epsom), and is less than two miles from junction 9 of the M25 motorway. The area also houses the Explorer Gate (south entrance) of Chessington World of Adventures. For learners, Malden Rushett is a hidden gem: the quiet, rural roads are excellent for early lessons and building foundational skills, while the proximity to the M25 and the A243 gives you a rapid progression to high-speed, multi-lane driving. The stretch along the A243 towards Rushett Common, with its woodland on both sides, is a great place to practise safe overtaking, hazard perception (look out for deer), and driving in darker conditions.
Yes, completely. We provide driving lessons across all these neighbourhoods with free home or station pick-up. Our instructors live locally and know every lane, junction, and test route in the area.
Most learners in Chessington take their test at Tolworth Driving Test Centre (KT6), which is around two miles south. It is the closest centre and we train you exclusively on the Tolworth routes so you're fully prepared.
Absolutely. We have dedicated automatic instructors and cars in the area. Automatic lessons are popular for handling the Ace of Spades junction, the M25 approach, and the busy A3 without the distraction of clutch control.
Complete beginners can be test-ready in around 4–6 weeks with a full intensive course (40–48 hours). If you already have some driving experience, we can often get you to test standard within 1–2 weeks and fast-track your test booking.
